In a world where peoples’ voices, faces, and words exist online—what happens when they no longer have control?
Today’s the day – from 3pm on Thursday 22nd May, we’re opening the premiere of Vocalize featuring Sir Stephen Fry at Hay Festival. And best of all, it’s a free experience for everyone aged 18+ through to Sunday 1st June.
We’re excited to reveal this incredible, important installation to Hay Festival goers which we’ve been producing with Indigo Storm and creators Francesca Panetta, Shehani Fernando, and Halsey Burgund, artists renowned for their work at the intersection of storytelling, technology and social impact. Visitors will be welcomed into the fictional world of the Vocalize Talent Agency where they will step into a soundproof booth and begin an interactive voiceover training session led by none other than Sir Stephen Fry’s AI clone. Guided by his vocal double, participants will record their own professional voice reel until the experience takes an unexpected turn…
“VOCALIZE is a brilliant fusion of art and entertainment, revealing both the wonders and pitfalls of AI. As this technology shapes our future, it urges us to pause, reflect, and question: where are we heading and who gets to decide?” – Sir Stephen Fry
Through the power of immersive storytelling, Vocalize places participants inside a playful yet unsettling experience that reveals just how easily artificial intelligence can manipulate identity and truth. By putting audiences at the centre of the action, the installation offers a powerful, hands-on encounter with AI —and the questions it raises.
The creators comment: “We wanted audiences to feel what manipulation truly means. When the viewer becomes the protagonist, the boundary between truth and fabrication starts to dissolve—and that shift becomes deeply personal. As artists, we’re drawn to exploring AI not only to unlock its creative potential, but also to confront the risks and ethical dilemmas it presents.”
If you’re at Hay Festival, join us on the main festival site where plenty of walk-up time slots are available every day or book your session in advance here.
