  • Location: London (hybrid)
  • Reports to: Head of Marketing
  • Contract: Part-time (minimum 2-3 days per week, with flexibility to increase during busy campaign periods). Initial 6 month contract with a review at 3 months.
  • Day Rate: Approx £200/day (dependent on experience)

About the role:

Sage & Jester is looking for a culturally aware, digitally native Social Media Manager to help shape and grow our presence across social platforms. This is not a purely operational role – we’re looking for someone with strong editorial instincts, who understands how to translate complex ideas into engaging, accessible content. You’ll play a key role in building a social presence that sits at the intersection of culture, current affairs, and storytelling. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, you’ll lead the day-to-day execution of social content, helping to grow and engage our audience while supporting wider campaigns and partnerships.

What we’re looking for:

You have a strong interest in:
  • Current affairs, politics, and media
  • Online culture and how narratives spread
  • Critical thinking and information integrity
  • Content creators, influencer culture, and digital storytelling
You’re someone who ‘lives online’ – you instinctively understand what works on different platforms, what audiences respond to, and how to turn ideas into content people actually engage with. You have a strong sensibility for editorial-led content (e.g. informative, culturally aware, concise, and engaging), rather than purely promotional brand content.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Publishing
  • Create, edit, and publish social-first content across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn)
  • Shoot and edit short-form video content (primarily using CapCut or similar tools)
  • Design simple, effective visual assets using Canva
  • Write sharp, engaging captions with a clear tone of voice
  Editorial & Content Development
  • Contribute ideas for content that connects current cultural or media conversations to Sage & Jester’s work
  • Own the channel by channel content strategy for Sage & Jester within the wider digital plan
  • Help translate complex themes (e.g. information, media, perception) into accessible, engaging formats
  • Spot trends, formats, and moments that the brand can respond to

Community Management

  • Manage day-to-day engagement across platforms (comments, DMs, interactions)
  • Build and nurture an engaged, thoughtful online community
  • Maintain a consistent and appropriate tone in all interactions

Campaign Support

  • Support the rollout of campaigns across social channels
  • Adapt campaign messaging and assets into platform-native content
  • Coordinate content with partners, collaborators, and creators where needed

Performance & Optimisation

  • Track and report on performance of content (engagement, reach, growth)
  • Share insights and suggest improvements
  • Continuously refine content based on what our metrics tell us is resonating

Experience & Skills (Essential)

  • 1-3 years’ experience in social media, content creation, or digital/editorial roles and/or equivalent experience of running and growing channels for yourself/your own projects
  • Experience creating content for platforms like Instagram and TikTok
  • Evidence of strong content instincts (this can include personal projects or accounts)
  • Strong copywriting skills (clear, concise, engaging)
  • Good working knowledge of social scheduling / reporting platforms
  • Confident using CapCut (or similar) for short-form video editing and Canva for design
  • Good understanding of platform behaviours and trends
  • Ability to work quickly while maintaining quality
  • Experience growing or managing a social media community
  • Interest in purpose-led or cultural organisations

Experience & Skills (Desirable)

  • Background in journalism, media, politics or editorial content
  • Experience of working in small, start-up organisations
  • Experience producing content for the 16-24 year old demographic

Personal attributes (Essential)

  • Curious, culturally aware, and critically minded
  • Creative with strong editorial judgement
  • Proactive and self-starting
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment
  • Collaborative and open to feedback
